Study on the status of child marriage in Rupandehi district (2018), under the GFF funded project

"Ending Child Marriage through Empowerment Clinic".

Methods: Household survey, KII/FGD and desk review

Household survey: 400 of Sudhdhodhan Rural Municipality and Sainamaina Muicipality.

Finding:

• An average per year 10 child marriage happened in last year (2017) in Sainamaina Municipality and 15 in Sudhdhodhan Rural municipality.

Causes of child marriage:

Social norms and values, poverty, dowry, gender based discrimination/violence, lack of legal provision against child marriage, sexual and emotional attraction and lack of life skill.
