The challenges faced by women during menopause are often overlooked and stigmatized, yet they are significant and deserving of attention. Recognizing this pressing issue, there has been a concerted effort to initiate open dialogue and raise awareness. With the financial support of TEWA and under the leadership of CIN, an awareness movement has been launched to address the unique challenges women face during menopause.

In many societies, patriarchal norms and values have perpetuated various forms of violence and discrimination against women throughout their lives. To counteract this, community-based awareness programs have been organized to mitigate gender-based intimate partner violence and educate individuals about the mental and physical changes associated with menopause. This initiative represents a dedicated 3-year effort, with the first year successfully completed.

The awareness initiative initially targeted 12 wards of Tilottama Municipality, gradually benefitting wards 1 through 4 in the first year. The program's scope extends beyond menopause to encompass broader issues related to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) of women, psychoeducation, and legal provisions addressing gender-based violence. Recently, discussions on Andropause, the male counterpart to menopause, have been included, broadening the initiative's scope to address a comprehensive array of health and social concerns affecting individuals across various life stages.

By focusing on gender equality and well-being, this initiative aims to empower women, raise awareness about their rights, and create supportive communities that prioritize the holistic health and dignity of all individuals. Through continued dialogue, education, and community engagement, the initiative seeks to foster positive social change and create a more inclusive and equitable society for everyone.
